The thermocouple calibration lab calibrates the following types of thermocouples:

      Basic metal

The specified letter (E, J, K, N, T)

Specify non-letter (W/Re, Ir/Rh, Pt/Rh) precious metals (S, R, B)

Pure metal (Au/Pt, Pt/Pd)

Calibration services for all common types of thermocouples are available from NIST in the range of -196° c to + 2100° C. The temperature range for a particular calibration depends on the type of wire or thermocouple being submitted.

Thermocouples can be calibrated by comparison or fixed point, depending on the type of thermocouple, temperature range and required accuracy. Both methods can be traced back to the 1990 International Temperature Scale (ITS-90). The comparison of thermocouple wires was calibrated using a reference thermocouple maintained at NIST. The thermocouple's fixed-point calibration uses four defined temperatures for ITS-90: the freezing point of zinc, aluminum, silver, and gold.

One-leg thermocouples were tested for the NIST-maintained platinum thermoelectric reference standard Pt-67 by the first or second method.

NIST thermocouple calibration requires only bare wires. We hope that customers will not send ceramic insulation and protective tubes as they may be damaged during transportation. If the thermocouple is shipped in a mount such as a protective tube assembly, special disassembly costs may be charged and the parts will be returned without assembly.

The minimum length of the submitted thermocouple wire shall be at least: J type, type, type, type, s type, type 70 B type is 80 cm

For base metal thermocouples (E, J, k, N and type) and thermocouple materials, only unused thermocouples can be tested. Calibration is only performed when the thermocouple may reach the specified accuracy. How to arrange calibration:
